Tomogashima is a series of inhabited islands that actually belong to Setonaikai National Park. The reason why we went there, is of course for the haikyo on the island. As a matter of fact, there were heritages left from the World War II.
Since Meji Period, Tomogashima was used as a fortification for against foreign ships. Canons and other defense facilities were then built along the coastline. However, during World War II, Japanese army ended up using air force mainly, the canons here were not used even once. After the war ends, this fortification was then listed as architecture heritage and was kept in fairly good shape till today.
