Golf boomed in Japan during the bubble years, and driving ranges sprang up everywhere, even on Sado Island. This practice range quietly went out of business at some point. Like many small ranges of its kind, it left almost no trace in the records. The long steel canopy still shelters a row of tee bays where rusting folding chairs, ball trays and tee mats sit exactly where the last players left them, while the green safety nets have collapsed in waves over the overgrown fairway. I visited in June 2017, with the range slowly turning into a meadow.
