Octogonal Tunnel

The Octagonal Tunnel is a hidden gem located off the beaten path. To get there, you’ll have to take a leisurely 200-meter walk through a serene, leafy path that feels straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie. As you near the tunnel, the path narrows and the atmosphere becomes a bit eerie, adding to the tunnel’s already mysterious aura.

Upon arriving at the tunnel, you’ll be struck by its unique appearance. Made up of seven octagonal rings, the structure looks like it could be a portal to another dimension. As you walk through the tunnel, you’ll feel like you’re traveling through time, with a mix of emotions ranging from awe to fear and excitement.

Despite its otherworldly appearance, it was actually constructed in 1915 as part of a railway. It was designed to prevent rocks from falling onto the tracks, but the reason for its seven unconnected octagonal arches remains a mystery. Some speculate that it was an attempt to reduce construction costs. The tunnel was abandoned when the railway closed in 1964.
